Local artists invited to design at Strathclyde Business Park
Artists in and around the Glasgow and Lanarkshire area have been invited to design new works of art for the entrance to Strathclyde Business Park (SBP).
SBP has masterminded a competition for Glasgow School of Art students to design sculptures for the entrance to the Park, to coincide with the development of the Park frontage along the A725.
John Quinn, academic support manager at Glasgow School of Art, said: “We are regularly approached to design sculptures and other pieces of art for buildings and business parks around the country, but this competition is quite unique in that we have never had to combine sculpture in a sign for a business park before.
“We have already had a lot of interest from students who are going to visit Strathclyde Business Park to get a better feel of the environment and space they have to design for. I’m sure that our students will be up for the challenge.”
William Hill, managing director of HF Developments, said: “We are looking for iconic sculptures which capture both the spirit of the Business Park, and provide another focal point for Park tenants, clients and visitors to engage with. Glasgow School of Art has a fantastic reputation for fine art and sculptures and we are confident that we will receive a number of high quality entries from which to choose.”
Students entering the competition are competing for the chance to see their work displayed in the Park and also for a prize of £2,500.
