Retail parade at Hamilton International Park
Hamilton International Park, one of Scotland’s most sought-after business locations, has begun construction on a £5.25million retail parade.
The 13,662 sq.ft parade will provide a wide range of leisure and retail facilities to both the business park occupiers and the local community. Three of the six retail units being constructed are currently under offer by prospective tenants.
Finance Minister, Tom McCabe MSP, officially launched construction on the site – which is due for completion in January 2007 – by digging the first piece of turf.
Hamilton International Park is home to a wide variety of local, regional and international businesses, which currently employ over 3,500 people. A recently announced £104million expansion plan, creating more than 2,500 jobs and an additional 319,000 sq.ft of office accommodation, will be completed by 2010.
William Hill, managing director of HF Developments, said: “We are delighted that Tom McCabe could come along and cut the first piece of turf here at the Park. Following on from our successful retail parade at Strathclyde Business Park, we felt that it was important to develop the facilities at Hamilton International Park to support the increasing workforce and locals in the surrounding areas here.”
Tom McCabe MSP added: “I am pleased to have been invited to symbolise the start of the development of Hamilton International Park’s Retail Parade. I am sure that this provision will be a welcome addition to the Park and will add to the significant contribution the retail industry already makes to the Scottish economy.
