Strathclyde Business Park raises £19,000 for St. Andrew's Hospice
The big-hearted owners of Strathclyde Business Park have raised £19,000 in aid of Lanarkshire charity St Andrew’s Hospice at a black tie charity dinner.
The event, hosted by joint venture partners HF Developments and AWG Property Ltd, was attended by over 120 businessmen and women. The evening’s entertainment was provided by a number of high-profile after dinner speakers at the Avondale Bar & Grill, based in the Park. A raffle and silent auction were also held, with prizes generously donated by local businesses.
William Hill, managing director of HF Developments, said: “We are delighted with the level of support shown from local businesses, Park tenants and key suppliers. We had some fantastic raffle prizes and auction lots, and our guests really did dig deep into their pockets in support of the Hospice.”
Stephen Kelly, director of AWG Property, added: “Many of our guests that attended the dinner already knew of the history of the Hospice and the quality of services and care that it provides to the local community. The evening was a great success in raising the profile of the Hospice to many of our clients and we hope that many other organisations will continue to support such a worthwhile cause.”
St Andrew's Hospice provides specialist palliative care for the people of Lanarkshire through 20 beds for end of life care, 12 beds for frail, elderly sick patients, a Day Hospice with facilities for an additional 80 patients, a Care at Home Team, and a range of Support Services for families of patients.
Through these facilities the Hospice provides care to 120 Lanarkshire patients each week, the large majority of whom are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. To maintain these specialist services the Hospice Fundraising Team has to raise over £1.8 million each year.
Sam Lavery, Appeals Director at St Andrew's Hospice, said: “The huge success of this event is cause for a double celebration at St Andrew’s where our Fundraising Team has to raise £37,000 each week to maintain vital care services to patients from the Lanarkshire Communities”.
“Firstly, the dinner raised £19,000 which is marvellous and a massive boost to the Hospice, and, secondly, HF Developments and AWG Property Limited decided to help St Andrew’s by organising this event and William Hill and Stephen Kelly and their support team actually drove the entire initiative”.
“It is tremendous when individuals act to help the Hospice by organising their own charity events, and even better when they achieve such a fabulous outcome”.
