Strathclyde Business Park Celebrates Completion of Roadworks in Record Time

Strathclyde Business Park’s £6.2 million road upgrade programme has been completed – 8 weeks ahead of schedule.

The upgrade programme began in October 2006 and work has progressed quickly to ensure that there has been as little disruption as possible to tenants based at the Park.

The extensive upgrade project was split into several phases and included the relocation of water, gas and telecom services, the introduction of a new slip road off the northbound A725, construction of the new roundabouts on the Diamond Interchange, enabling traffic to flow more freely in and out of Bellshill North Industrial Estate, Righead Industrial Estate, and Strathclyde Business Park. The existing roundabout at the entrance to the Business Park has been re-modelled into a much larger, signalised junction, to facilitate traffic flow both out of the Park and onto the A725.

The improvements – which were officially launched on Friday 6th July with a fantastic fireworks display – will greatly improve traffic flow around the Business Park and surrounding industrial estates.

William Hill, Managing Director at Strathclyde Business Park, said: “I am delighted to announce the completion of construction work 8 weeks ahead of schedule. Our contractors, Farrans Construction Ltd, have worked tirelessly to ensure that the upgrade programme has progressed as seamlessly and quickly as possible.

“We are also sponsoring 75% of the costs of installing a signalised junction at the A725 and North Road merge, work which is expected to start mid-August, and be completed by the end of the month.

“Having campaigned for over five years to improve the safety of motorists on the A725, it is very rewarding to see it all finally come together and I’m sure the tenants will agree that the new measures will make a vast difference to access in and out of the Park.”

Hill added: “I would like to thank everyone that was involved in ensuring that the roadworks progressed with as little disruption as possible and in such a quick timescale.

“The upgrade programme demonstrates our commitment to continually improving services and amenities for our tenants and it is this commitment that will ensure we remain the number one choice for businesses looking to locate in the heart of the central belt.”
