Strathclyde Business Park Puts The Fun Back Into Fundraising Following
on from the overwhelming success of last year's 'It's a Knockout' competition,
Strathclyde Business Park will once again sponsor the fun-filled event in aid
of St Andrew's Hospice. The competition - based on the popular 1970s TV
game show - involves teams competing in crazy competitions of skill and physical
co-ordination, including carrying buckets of water across greasy poles, navigating
through inflatable obstacle courses and generally getting soaked, to help raise
vital funds for the Lanarkshire-based charity. The event will take place
in Strathclyde Park over the weekend of Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st of June,
and companies have the choice of which day they want to participate. Teams
of ten are required for 'It's A Knockout' and each team member is asked to raise
a minimum of £100 sponsorship. Trophies will be presented to the top three
teams and commemorative medals will be given to each person who participates. William
Hill, Managing Director of Strathclyde Business Park and owner of HF Developments,
said: "It's a Knockout is without a doubt turning into one of Lanarkshire's
annual good cause highlights. Last year's event was a huge success and raised
over £25,000 for the hospice, so we're hoping that this year's event will
be even bigger and better. "The competition is a great team building
event and I'm sure that companies from throughout Lanarkshire will be keen to
get involved in the fun, and help raise funds for such a worthwhile and important
charity." St Andrew's Hospice provides specialist palliative care for
the people of Lanarkshire through 20 beds for end of life care, 12 beds for frail,
elderly sick patients, a Day Hospice with facilities for an additional 80 patients,
a Care at Home Team, and a range of Support Services for families of patients.
Through
these facilities the Hospice provides care to 120 Lanarkshire patients each week,
the large majority of whom are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
To maintain these specialist services the Hospice Fundraising Team has to raise
over £1.8 million each year. It is anticipated that this year's 'It's
a Knockout' competition will sell out quickly, so teams are encouraged to book
early to ensure their place at the event. For more information or to enter a team,
