Helping the Hospice- Charity Dinner Raises £20,000 Strathclyde
Business Park's annual black-tie fundraising dinner in support of St Andrews Hospice
has raised in excess of £20,000 for St Andrew's Hospice. The annual
dinner, hosted by HF Developments at the Park's Avondale restaurant, was attended
by 170 businessmen and women who gave their support for the Lanarkshire-based
charity. Guests enjoyed a fantastic evening of fine food and entertainment,
with after-dinner speeches from the well known Wilson Hunter and Len Murray, whilst
a raffle, auction and silent auction were also held, with prizes generously donated
by local businesses. William Hill - managing director of HF Developments
- commented: "Once again we were delighted by the response of our Park tenants
and business associates who gave so generously of their time, money and donated
so generously to the evening's prizes. We have the greatest respect for the work
of St Andrew's Hospice and we hope that the annual fundraising dinner has helped
to raise awareness of the Hospice and the vital services they provide."
St
Andrew's Hospice provides specialist palliative care for the people of Lanarkshire
through 20 beds for end of life care, 12 beds for frail, elderly sick patients,
a Day Hospice with facilities for an additional 80 patients, a Care at Home Team,
and a range of Support Services for families of patients.
Through these
facilities the Hospice provides care to 120 Lanarkshire patients each week, the
large majority of whom are suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
To maintain these specialist services the Hospice Fundraising Team has to raise
over £2.2 million each year. Sam Lavery, Hospice Fundraising Director
at St Andrew's Hospice, said: "It's fantastic to see the Lanarkshire business
community come together and raise so much money for the Hospice. "Our
Hospice has the task of raising £43,000 each week to fund vital services
for acutely ill patients from North and South Lanarkshire, and this cannot be
achieved without the ongoing help of the local community and fundraising events
like the dinner organised by HF Developments. "I would like to thank
everyone that was involved in ensuring the evening was such a great success and
for all those that contributed so generously. It is without a doubt becoming one
of Lanarkshire's annual highlights."
