Jamie's Italian Opens for Business at G1 Leading restauranteur Jamie Oliver today opens his first Scottish Jamie’s Italian restaurant at G1 Glasgow in George Square. At over 8,000 sq ft, the restaurant is the largest in Jamie’s rapidly expanding chain, which currently operates in Canary Wharf, Bath, Oxford, Cardiff, Kingston and Guildford.
The challenge in finding the right location which offers the required combination of quality and character is one to which Jamie’s Italian Managing Director Simon Blagden, is now well accustomed.
Simon explained “G1 Glasgow was an obvious and instant attraction for us. The building has the perfect mix of character and quality that we need for our restaurants. As the cultural and commercial heart of the city, George Square offers the ideal setting.”
A key ingredient to the overwhelming success of Jamie’s Italian to date has been providing the right dining environment, and an extensive fit out has created one of the coolest restaurants in Glasgow. The restaurant provides over 280 covers, split across the open ground and lower ground floors.
Stephen Lewis, Development Director at HF Developments, explained “G1 Glasgow was the obvious choice for Jamie’s first Scottish restaurant. The development sets the standard for office accommodation in Glasgow, and having tasted the food I’m in no doubt that Jamie will set a new standard in the City. The combination of quality, environment and price will be exceptionally hard to replicate elsewhere.”
